3 March 2003

Hello from Sungai Ko-Lok Thailand.

This is a record of a brief two night stop here on the Thai side of the border before heading back to Bangkok after a visa run to Kota Bharu in Malaysia. This is something ex-pats do on a regular basis to extend their tourist visas. Right now I am heading for Trang and Krabi to see the unusual geological formations in the Phang-Nga bay. Because the train doesn't go anywhere near the bay and I needed to replan transportation, I paused and searched around for an acceptable hotel for a night or two. The Genting Hotel has a lot going for it: near the border, luxury rooms, pleasant landscaped grounds, a $17 room rate, and convenient location for transportation, so I spent two nights here. The morning after the last night I caught an early morning 8AM bus for Trang about a hundred miles to the north.

Peace,
Fred Bellomy
